| When cultural controls can no longer be effective Systemic injections of insecticides, fungicides and micro-nutrients are one of the most environmentally friendly method of controlling insects and disease. This method involves injecting chemicals directly into the vascular system of the tree using a small needle designed to place the chemical into the cambium. Other treatments involve drilling small holes and a capsule is inserted to allow the fluid to flow into the cambium. Both methods have been found to be highly effective and virtually harmless to the tree. |
