| When root disease or other conditions diminish a trees ability to uptake nutrients through the root system Mycorrhizal fungi can be introduced into the soil in a variety of methods typically in combination with other root building treatments and fertilizers to correct the problem. Mycorrhizal fungi stimulates root growth and increases root absorption capability by sending long hyphal strands into the soil. Some mycorrhizal fungi form a protective barrier called a mantle around fine roots. The mantle and hyphal strands increase water absorption, enhance nutrient uptake and provide a barrier from harmful organisms that attack the root system. |
